F Ratings — 2 and 3 Hr (See Item 3B)

T Rating — 0 Hr

    1. Floor or Wall Assembly — Min 4-1/2 in. thick reinforced lightweight or normal weight concrete (100-150 pcf) floor or wall. Wall may also be constructed of any UL Classified Concrete Blocks*. Max diam of opening shall not exceed 8 in.

    2. Through Penetrants — A max of three pipes, conduits or tubing to be installed within the opening. The annular space between pipes, conduits or tubing shall be min 1-1/2 in. to max 2 in. The annular space between pipes, conduits or tubing and periphery of opening shall be min 1/2 in. to max 1 in. Pipe, conduit or tubing to be rigidly supported on both sides of floor or wall assembly. The following types and sizes of metallic pipes, conduits or tubing may be used:
      A. Nom 2 in. diam (or smaller) rigid galv steel conduit.
      B. Nom 2 in. diam (or smaller) steel electrical metallic tubing.
      C. Nom 2 in. diam (or smaller) Type L (or heavier) copper tubing.
      D. Nom 2 in. diam (or smaller) Schedule 10 (or heavier) steel pipe.
    3. Firestop System — The firestop system shall consist of the following:
      A. Forming Material* — (Not Shown) — Min 1/2 in. thick boards friction-fitted into annular space between through-penetrant and periphery of opening. Forming material to be recessed a min of 3 in. from top surface of floor or a min of 1/4 in. from both surfaces of wall. Forming material may be removed after the fill material cures.
      A1. Fill, Void or Cavity Material* - Putty — (Not shown) — One layer of nom 1/4 in. thick putty pad installed around each copper tube or pipe. Putty pad width to extend throughout thickness of mortar pour (Item 3B).

      B. Fill, Void or Cavity Material* — Mortar — Min 3 in. thickness of fill material applied within the annulus, flush with top surface of floor or recessed 1/4 in. from both surfaces of wall. Type KBS Mortar is mixed at a rate of 1.7 parts dry mixture to 1.0 part water by weight in accordance with the accompanying installation instructions. Type Flame Safe Mortar mixed with water at a rate of 1.1 parts dry mixture to 1.0 part water by weight in accordance with the installation instructions supplied with the product. The F Rating of the firestop system is dependent upon the type of mortar. If Type KBS Mortar is used, the F Rating is 3 Hr. If Type Flame Safe Mortar is used, the F Rating is 2 Hr.
