1A. Roof Assembly — (Not Shown) - As an alternate to the floor assembly, a fire rated fluted steel deck roof assembly may be used. The roof shall by constructed of the materials and in the manner described in the individual P700 or P900-Series Roof-Ceiling designs in the UL Fire Resistance Directory. The hourly rating of the roof assembly shall be equal to or greater than the hourly rating of the wall assembly. The roof assembly shall include the following construction features:
A. Steel Roof Deck — Max 3 in. (76 mm) deep galv steel fluted roof deck.
B. Roof Insulation — Roof insulation to consist of min 2-1/4 in. (57 mm) thick poured insulating concrete, as measured from the top plane of the roof deck.

2. Wall Assembly — The 1 or 2 hr fire rated gypsum board/stud wall assembly shall be constructed of the materials and in the manner described in the individual U400, V400 or W400 Series Wall and Partition Design in the UL Fire Resistance Directory and shall include the following construction features:
A. Steel Floor and Ceiling Tracks Floor tracks of wall assembly shall consist of min No. 25 gauge galv steel channels sized to accommodate steel studs (Item 2B). Ceiling track to be provided with a fill, void, or cavity material and are described in Item 3C. Ceiling track attached to steel deck with steel fasteners or welds spaced a max 24 in. (610 mm) OC. When optional spray applied fire resistive material is used on the steel floor units, ceiling track shall be secured through the spray-applied fire resistive material to valleys of floor unit with steel masonry fasteners spaced max 24 in. (610 mm) OC.

A1. Light Gauge Framing* — Steel Floor and Ceiling Tracks As an alternate to steel ceiling tracks in (Item 2A), ceiling tracks are to be used with a fill, void or cavity described in (Items 3C1, 3C2A, 3C3A, 3C4A). Ceiling track attached to steel deck with steel fasteners or welds spaced a max 24 in. (610 mm) OC. Floor tracks are sized to accommodate steel studs (Items 2B).

B. Studs — Steel studs to be min 3-5/8 in. (92 mm) wide. Studs cut 1/2 to 1-5/8 in. (13 to 41 mm) less in length than assembly height with bottom nesting in and secured to floor track. Studs to nest in ceiling track without attachment when DL Series (Item 3C) is used. When slotted ceiling track SL Series (Item 3C) or DSL Series (Item 3C) is used, steel studs secured to slotted ceiling track with No. 8 by 1/2 in. (13 mm) long wafer head steel screws at mid-height of exposed slot on one or both sides of slotted ceiling track.
C. Gypsum Board* — Gypsum board sheets installed to a min total 5/8 in. (16 mm), 1-1/4 in. (32 mm) or 1-7/8 in. (48 mm) thickness on each side of wall for 1, 2 and 3 hr fire rated assemblies, respectively. Wall to be constructed as specified in the individual U400, V400 or W400 Series Design in the UL Fire Resistance Directory except that a max 3/8 to 1-1/2 in. (10 to 38 mm) gap (Item 3C) shall be maintained between the top of the gypsum board and the bottom of the floor assembly. The screws attaching the gypsum board to the studs along the top of the wall shall be located max 2-1/2 in. (64 mm) below the bottom of the ceiling track legs. No gypsum board attachment screws shall be driven into the ceiling track. Where the structural member is within 6 in. of the surface of the wall, and the top of the wall assembly is inaccessible from one side the gypsum board attachment screws may be located a maximum of 1 in. (25 mm) below the bottom of the ceiling track legs at the lowest elevation of the structural steel support.
C1. Gypsum Board* — In lieu of item 2C. Gypsum board sheets installed to a min total 3/4 in. (19 mm) thickness on each side of wall for 2 hr fire rated assemblies. For 2 hour assembly using one layer of 3/4" board on each side a min 3" thick mineral wool batt to be installed and friction fitted between studs and tracks. Wall to be constructed as specified in the individual U400, V400 or W400 Series Design in the UL Fire Resistance Directory except that a max 3/8 to 1-1/2 in. (10 to 38 mm) gap (Item 3C) shall be maintained between the top of the gypsum board and the bottom of the floor assembly. The screws attaching the gypsum board to the studs along the top of the wall shall be located max 2-1/2 in. (64 mm) below the bottom of the ceiling track legs. No gypsum board attachment screws shall be driven into the ceiling track. Where the top of the wall assembly is inaccessible above the lowest elevation of a structural steel support, the gypsum board attachment screws may be located below the bottom of the ceiling track legs at the lowest elevation of the structural steel support.

The hourly fire rating of the joint system is equal to the hourly fire rating of the wall.

3. Joint System — Max separation between bottom of floor and top of wall sheathing (at time of installation) is 3/8 to 1 in. (10 to 24.4 mm). The type of the fill, void or cavity material is dependent upon the width of the joint. The joint system is designed to accommodate a max 100 percent compression or extension from its installed width.
A. Forming Material* — Min 4 pcf (64 kg/m3) density mineral wool batt insulation cut to the width of the ceiling track and to a thickness 33 percent greater than the height of the flutes and compressed and installed into flutes above ceiling track. When nom joint width is greater than 1 in. (25 mm) or rating is for 3 hours, the width of the mineral wool batt insulation shall be equal to the overall thickness of the wall. When gaps are present above ceiling track at steel deck seams or embossments in steel deck valleys, a sliver of mineral wool batt insulation shall be used to seal each gap to attain L Ratings.

L-Bead horizontal flange to be applied over the top face of the gypsum base, ensuring horizontal and vertical flanges are in contact gypsum base. Splices are cut square aligned and tightly butted together. Attach L-Bead to the gypsum base with 9/16 in (14 mm) Type G staples, or equivalent, spaced 12 in. (305 m) OC maximum along the flange in accordance with supplied manufacturers supplied instructions.

D1. Packing Material — (As an alternate to 3D) Open cell polyurethane backer rod foam having a density of 1.5 to 2.0 pcf (24 to 32 kg/m3). Min 5/8 in. (16 mm) or 1 in. (25.4 mm) thickness of material for 1 and 2 hr rated walls, respectively, shall be firmly packed into the joint at both sides of wall as a permanent form. Backer rod shall be installed flush with both sides of wall to accommodate installation of Item 3D1a.
D1a. Tape and Joint Compound — (As an alternate to Item 3D must be used with Item 3D1) A layer of tape and joint compound shall be applied over the backer rod packing material with the tape lapping onto the wall only.
